It is a simple program and can sharpen with or without clipping. I originally wrote it in a very short time and I felt it was the best filter I have written, and I continue to refine it. I feel that the code is clean and quite readable. In it's current state it's a bit basic, but I would like to see it grow to more complexity and other useful features. Xsharpen has now been built into the following programs: - VirtualDub - Sharpen/Filters Xsharpen Torrent (Activation Code) (Updated 2022) UNDO RESET CMD OPERA Mode Size Resume NOTE Operation defaults to half-way between extreme sharpening and minimum sharpening. SETTINGS VDP File If the file is located in a VirtualDub directory, then its suffix will be ignored. Note: if the VirtualDub directory is a VirtualDub installation it must be created with the "--build --templates" command. No effect. Jumps To Frame Use this to speed-up a fast-forward Set this to 1 to jump to the next frame. Ignored if Jumps To Frame is set to 0. Notice: if Jumps To Frame is set to 0, then running the filter will result in an error message. Threshold (128 - 65535) Control the amount of sharpening. When Threshold is set to less than the file's pixel-depth, the effect is virtually zero. When Threshold is set to larger than the file's pixel-depth, the effect is virtually infinite. A good starting point is set the threshold to the file's pixel depth. This results in a sharpening effect that is fairly similar to Adobe Photoshop's "Sharpen" filter. When Threshold is set to the same value as the file's pixel-depth, the filter will be ineffective because it is able to only distinguish between the center pixel and the closest neighboring pixels. The threshold setting is best interpreted as the amount of pixels above which a pixel will be "mapped". As with all filters, the best result occurs when the threshold is somewhere between these extremes. The default threshold setting is 128. Apply to Frames Apply to a set of frames. None. Window Size (320 - 2560) Control the size of the window. This is the size of the center pixel buffer used by the filter. The window's width must be a factor of 2 larger than the file's width, so that each pixel in the file's center is mapped to a window pixel. The window's height must be a factor of 2 larger than the file's height, so that each pixel in the file's center is mapped to a window pixel. The default window width is 320 pixels. What's New In? Use Xsharpen in VirtualDub to give the video a subtle sharpening effect. Filters operate by analyzing each individual pixel in the video. This means that there is no effect on chroma components. Xsharpen operates by mapping each pixel into one of the brightest or dimmest pixel in the rectangular window, depending on the threshold setting. If the pixel is mapped, it is also blended with the original pixel color using the brightness setting. If the brightness setting is 0%, the pixel is kept unmodified. If the brightness setting is 100%, the pixel is replaced by the brightest or dimmest pixel in the window. In this way, the sharpness of the frame is progressively emphasized until the threshold setting is reached. The effect is clearly visible and pleasant. The downside is that the higher the threshold setting, the more the image will look like it has been shot on film with a film speed of 1.4. The setting also determines how much the image is magnified or compressed. Note that Xsharpen is a filter - it can be placed on the source video, after which the file must be opened in VirtualDub. There are three types of filters. 1. Xsharpen 2. Xsharpen + 3. Xsharpen - The '+' and '-' filters work by adding and subtracting a fixed value from each pixel in the window, while the 'xsharpen' filter uses no fixed value. Setting the brightness value to 100% in Xsharpen-x+ is the same as setting it to 100% in Xsharpen. Settings in the plugin are stored in the VirtualDub plugin registry. Settings are read from the registry in at least one of the three filters. General There are a few settings that are not specific to any filter. UnsharpFilter - How strong is the unsharp filter. BlurIntensity - How much blur the filter adds to the image. Threshold - How bright the images are allowed to be before a pixel is blurred. BlurDist - How far away the bright and dark pixel are allowed to be before a pixel is blurred. BrightnessFactor - A multiplier that if applied to the original pixel value of each pixel before blending. AmountSrc - A multiplier that if applied to the bright pixel in the window. AmountDst - A multiplier that if applied to the dim pixel in the window. AmountComp - A multiplier that if applied to the original pixel color before blending. Xsharpen The unsharp filter is set to 0 and the blur intensity to 0. The other settings are the same as the xsharpen filter.
